Ali Ahmed
Founder and Principal
Recognized as a sustainability and energy management leader, Ali Ahmed has developed and managed more than 50 global energy and sustainability programs. Offering over 20 years of experience, he combines an uncommon level of technical depth, combined with an understanding of business operations to create value-added, high-ROI energy and sustainability programs. His areas of expertise include demand-side energy management, the Internet of Things, building and industrial automation, energy procurement, renewable energy, and sustainable transportation solutions. Ali is a Certified Energy Manager and Auditor from the Association of Energy Engineers and a LEED Accredited Professional from the US Green Building Council. He serves on the boards of green|spaces, advancing the sustainability of the Chattanooga region, and The Appalachian Carbon Exchange (ACE) developing nature-based carbon offsets, and formerly served on the board of the Great Lakes Energy Institute at Case Western Reserve University, promoting research in energy generation, distribution, and efficiency.

Our programs all work toward the triple bottom line which includes environmental, social, and economic sustainability and we align our programs with the key components of our mission: Living, Working, and Building.
The Great Lakes Energy Institute (GLEI) is an interdisciplinary research institute dedicated to catalyzing breakthroughs in energy sustainability that address the most pressing problems facing our world. GLEI empowers faculty, students and partners to expand knowledge, deepen understanding, and create innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
